Youth joining spring break will be isolated on a gulf island (Gambier) for 15 days, supervised, residing in a beautiful cottage residence, supported by Allie (they are familiar with her) and have access to wifi to contact parents
Safe – BC health authority continues to keep firm restrictions on people travelling, congregating and socializing. The PHO has stated they are not permitting gatherings of people (friends and family) in any home or place.
Our plan reduces the chance (99%) of the youth being exposed to COVID as the youth from Unisus are considered a larger family unit and away from others. Youth being able to wander the streets and malls in Vancouver and/or interact with the public is not part of our program option.
Because the youth are on a remote gulf island – they are allowed to enjoy and adventure as freely as possible. Participating youth returning to Unisus will not be at risk in bringing COVID to the school

Curriculum – we have 3 student teachers (they become certified teachers in May) from Queens University are joining us this spring break and will be co-leading numerous environmental science modules and activities.
If Unisus would like – we can share our curriculum for the spring break with your head teacher to consider the modules towards their IB learning.
Climate Change Education – all the youth will have ample free and fun times to explore and adventure. However, our theme for the spring break is climate change education which we believe is relevant, interesting and necessary. Modules can also be considered by your head teacher.
Activities – fishing, crab fishing, gourmet cooking, paddle carving, hiking, wellness activities, bike riding, ocean canoeing, movie nights, community service and much more.
