Important Updates

We are pleased to share that IRRC has announced that international students will be able to complete their studies online from abroad and still be eligible to apply for a post-graduate work permit in Canada as per the government press release. 

This includes studies completed outside of Canada between Spring 2020 and December 31, 2021, and will count toward the eligibility and length of a future post-graduate work permit.

This applies even if your student has completed 2 programs of study abroad. We are excited to hear this news, and we will provide further details as they become available. 

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus and its variants, the federal government has announced new requirements for international travellers to Canada.

Effective February 1st, all air travellers arriving at Toronto Pearson International airport will be required to take a free, mandatory COVID-19 test before exiting the airport in Toronto. This test is in addition to the negative pre-boarding test required to travel to Canada. 

The February 12th announcement states that as of February 22nd, all travellers to Canada will be required to stay at a predetermined quarantine hotel until a negative test result is confirmed.

It is our understanding that this may apply to international students, however, this has yet to be confirmed by the Canadian government at the time of this email. This new requirement to quarantine at a designated hotel would be at the expense of the traveller. 

At this time, we have no further information however, we will update you as it becomes available. Specifically, we will provide information on the arrivals process and a list of quarantine hotels as soon as this information is approved for distribution.
