Applications Open for 2022
As our Winter 2022 admissions are coming to a close, we are continuing to review applications for Summer 2022 and will start accepting applications for Fall 2022 in early October.
For details on our programs and facilities, please download our 2022 Douglas College brochures.
Returning to Campus
This Fall 2021, we have welcomed 700+ new international students on campus and in our virtual classrooms.
Whether student is enrolled in in-person, online or hybrid class, we ask them to stay up to date by regularly checking COVID-19 and safe return to campus information.
Proof of Vaccination on Campus
By order of the BC Provincial Health Officer, proof of vaccination is now required in British Columbia for those ages 12+ attending certain businesses and events.
What kind of events are covered by this order? Indoor ticketed events (concerts or sports events), restaurant dining, gyms, organized gatherings and recreational classes. For a full list of events, see here.
For Douglas College students, that means that some of our activities now require proof of vaccination of at least one dose, and full vaccination (two doses) from October 24, 2021 onwards.
Douglas College campus activities that do not require proof of vaccination include:
- Academic classes and other educational activities required for those classes
- Co-curricular workshops, info sessions, or events (e.g. Career Centre workshops, Service Fairs, etc.)
- Access to service areas on campus (e.g. DC International office, Career Center, Counselling, etc.)
- On-campus cafeterias
- Indoor organized events with less than 50 people, except adult sports
Activities that require proof of vaccination:
- Indoor ticketed concerts, theatre, dance, symphony and sporting events
- Fitness Centre access
- Indoor gatherings like conferences, meetings and workshops that welcome individuals from the community to participate
- Indoor recreational classes and activities like pottery, art and choir that welcome individuals from the community to participate
- Douglas Students’ Union events.
The requirement is in place until January 31, 2022, subject to extension.
Can Douglas College Students Get the COVID-19 Vaccination?
Students can get the vaccine by:
- Calling 1-833-838-2323 seven days a week, 7 am to 7 pm (PDT)
- Booking online at Fraser Health Vaccine Clinics, Coastal Health Vaccine Clinics, and Community Pharmacies
COVID-19 vaccination is free and does not require medical insurance coverage.
Travelling to Canada and Quarantine
If students are taking classes remotely and are planning to travel to Canada after the start of the semester, we recommend checking our travelling to Canada and self-isolation planning page for updates on travel restrictions and temporary changes affecting International students.
Featured Program: Health Information Management PBD
Health care and social assistance industry is one British Columbia’s largest employers. This industry is known for lowest unemployment rate while being relatively immune from economic fluctuations.
By 2029, the forecasted employment in the healthcare and social assistance field is expected to reach 380,800 jobs, with an average hourly rate of over $29.74 CAD.
Douglas College offers a variety of programs in the health care field, to give our graduates a competitive edge in the job market – a BA in Applied Psychology as well as Hearing Instrument Practitioner, Dispensing Opticianry and Therapeutic Recreation Diplomas, just to name a few.
Health care industry depends on the professionals who collect and analyze information, improving the quality of care in Canada. Emergency wait times, vaccination rates and immunization records are just a few examples of where health data is collected!
The 2-year Post-Baccalaureate diploma in Health Information Management offered at DC Coquitlam Campus is unique for British Columbia allowing graduates to apply for positions in health data management, quality management, data analytics, financial management and risk management with a median wage of $32/hour. During the program, Douglas students put their skills to test with four practicums in a hospital setting, as well as job-shadow healthcare professionals.
