Before you travel  

The COVID-19 pandemic restricts travel to Canada and within Canada. It is essential to understand and comply with the requirements. Find out if you can enter Canada  

Work your way through every step to understand how to plan and prepare. Each step has specific requirements and exemptions that will ripple through to later stages of your travel.   

Boarding your flight   

  • Have your ArriveCAN receipt and pre-entry test results ready to provide to the airline   

Arriving in Canada   

  • Have your ArriveCAN receipt, test results, and quarantine plans ready for assessment by a Border Services Officer  
  • Take a test on arrival (effective February 21, 2021 11:59 pm ET)  
  • Go to your pre-booked hotel for up to 3-nights to await results from your arrival test (effective February 21, 2021 at 11:59 pm ET)   

Completing your quarantine  

Documents to Bring  

  • Letter of Acceptance from the College (for new students)   
  • Verification of Enrollment (VOE) from the College   
  • A letter from the College supporting to travel to Canada. (Attached)  
  • A Valid Passport   
  • Valid Temporary Resident Visa or eTA   
  • Valid Study Permit or study permit approval (Note: Approval in Principal or AIP does now allow students to travel)   
  • Proof that you have enough money to support yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada.   

The ultimate authority allowing students into the country rests with the Canadian Border Services Agency. If you choose to travel to Canada, it is your responsibility to provide proof that you are eligible.

Medical Insurance  

  • New International students are automatically enrolled in Guard Me temporary medical insurance starting the first day of the semester. You may purchase additional medical insurance directly through Guard Me if you plan to arrive before January 4, 2021 and/or if you have family members travelling with you. Upon arrival in BC you must apply for BC Medical Services Plan (MSP). 
  • Non-new and/or continuing students can purchase coverage directly through Guard Me if you do not already have MSP yet or if there are gaps in your MSP coverage.   

Travel from the Airport to Isolation  

Students should plan to take a taxi or ride share service or have a private pick-up (by family or other) directly to the address of self-isolation. You will be required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
