Will international students be eligible to enter Canada for the 2020-2021 school year?

Latest from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) as of May 29:

Until further notice, you might not be able to travel to Canada, even if you have a valid visitor visa or electronic travel authorization (eTA).

If you’re an international student who has a valid study permit, or were approved for a study permit on or before March 18, 2020, you’re exempt from the travel restrictions. Find out what you need before you travel to Canada.

If you’re travelling by air, you need to pass a health check conducted by an airline before you’ll be allowed to board your flight. Anyone who shows symptoms of COVID-19 will not be allowed to enter Canada by air.

When you arrive in Canada, we’ll assess your health before you leave the port of entry. You must have a plan to quarantine for 14 days when you arrive in Canada. This is mandatory, even if you have no symptoms.

If you don’t have a plan, you shouldn’t travel to Canada.

Học sinh quốc tế có thể nhập học tại Canada vào năm 2020 – 2021 hay không?

Theo tin tức mới nhất từ Sở nhập cư, Tị nạn và Công dân Canada (IRCC) vào ngày 29/05.

Cho đến khi có thông báo mới nhất, hiện tại HSSV quốc tế không thể đến Canada trong thời điểm này cho dù đã được cấp visa hay giấy phép du lịch (eTA)

Đối với Du học sinh đã có Giấy phép du học còn hạn, hoặc giấy phép du học được cấp trước 18/03/2020, sẽ được miễn việc hạn chế đi lại. (Xem chi tiết)

Nếu di chuyển bằng đường hàng không, DHS cần làm kiểm tra sức khỏe trước khi lên máy bay. Những ai có triệu chứng mắc bệnh COVID-19 sẽ không được nhập cảnh vào Canada.

Khi đến Canada, DHS bắt buộc phải cách ly trong 14 ngày

Nếu như chưa có kế hoạch, các em không nên đến Canada trong thời điểm này.

Alberta schools are now closed.  When will they reopen?

School will resume in September, 2020 but we are unsure of the format at this time and will take our direction from the provincial government (Alberta Education) who is considering three scenarios:

• Ongoing learning (in an online environment)
• In-person learning
• Combination of online and in-person (with restrictions)

We will continue to provide updates in this document as we receive them but please note we may not have details until closer to school start-up in September.

What we do know is that during the 2020-2021 school year, school will be different than it has been in the past.  When a student enters school in September, this will be in the midst of a pandemic.  Our excellent CBE schools and staff will continue to offer the very best programming they can but it will be important to have realistic expectations about the set-up of the learning environment that will be necessary to keep students and staff safe.

Also, the pandemic situation may change throughout the year meaning school will need to respond accordingly.  It will be important for students and families to be adaptable, flexible, and understand that uncertainty and change may exist throughout the school year.

Khi nào các trường học tại Alberta sẽ mở cửa lại?

Các trường dự kiến sẽ mở của lại vào tháng 9/2020 – Cơ quan tỉnh bang (Alberta Education) sẽ cân nhắc 3 kiến nghị sau:

Như chúng ta đã biết, năm học 2020-2021 sẽ khác với các năm trước. Tuy nhiên, toàn bộ cán bộ giảng viên CBE sẽ cố gắng mang đến những chương trình tốt nhất cho học viên nhưng quan trọng nhất vẫn là tạo một môi trường học tập an toàn cho các em.

Bên cạnh đó, nếu tình hình dịch bệnh tiếp tục chuyển biến trong suốt năm học thì nhà trường cũng sẽ phải có những động thái ứng biến kịp thời. Đặc biệt quan trọng rằng cả học sinh và phụ huynh cần phải thích nghi, ứng biến linh động và cảm thông với tình hình bất ổn cũng như các thay đổi có thể xảy ra trong suốt năm học.

What is the refund policy for the academic program for the 2020-2021 school year?

We have amended our standard refund policy for requests that relate to COVID-19 only.  All other requests will be subject to our standard refund policy:

• If your study permit is denied or you are denied entrance to Canada for reasons that are out of your control:  You will receive a full tuition refund (less the application fee).
• If the program is cancelled by Calgary Board of Education before the start date of your program: you will receive a full refund (less the application fee).
• If you withdraw or are withdrawn from the Calgary Board of Education: Once your program has begun (and the student has been in attendance) as per the Duration of Program (study) dates on the letter of acceptance, no refund will be given.

Late Arrivals: When a student arrives late, there will be no refund for the time period missed

Chính sách hoàn tiền cho các chương trình học năm 2020-2021?

CBE đã chỉnh sửa chính sách hoàn phí tiêu chuẩn cho các vấn đề liên quan tới COVID-19. Tất cả các yêu cầu khác vẫn tuân theo chính sách hoàn phí tiêu chuẩn của chúng tôi.

• Nếu hồ sơ xin Study permit của học sinh bị từ chối hoặc học sinh bị từ chối nhập cảnh Canada vì lý do chính đáng: Học sinh sẽ được hoàn lại toàn bộ học phí (trừ lệ phí xét đơn)

Can students start late in the 2020-2021 school year?

This depends on the level of study.  Elementary and junior high students can start up until February of the school year.  High schools students can start up to two weeks late and after that, they would need to consider deferring their program (age dependent) and there are no extra fees for requesting a deferral. 

Học sinh có thể nhập học muộn trong năm học 2020-2021 không?

Điều này phụ thuộc vào cấp học của học sinh. Học sinh tiểu học và trung học cơ sở có thể nhập học muộn nhất đến tận tháng 2 của năm học. International students have health insurance through StudyInsured.  What coverage do they provide for COVID-19?

• From StudyInsured:  Below are a few some general points that we are telling clients are important regarding inbound international student plans:
  • Our plans would cover unforeseen emergency expenses related to the coronavirus (COVID-19), the same as any other illness, if it is contracted in Canada after the effective date of the policy.
  • Any pre-existing medical condition, including COVID-19 illness, would not be covered if it has not been stable for the required amount of time (90 days) before the effective policy date. This is something that the doctor in Canada would ask the student when they started experiencing their symptoms, to determine if it was before arrival to Canada. We also will contact their medical records from the student’s home country to determine if it was pre-existing or not.
  • Expenses incurred in an insured person’s home country are not covered, unless they are travelling on a school trip.
  • Further expenses in Canada related to an illness that originated in the home country would also be excluded.

Từ StudyInsured: Dưới đây là một số điểm chung mà chúng tôi luôn nhấn mạnh liên quan đến gói bảo hiểm dành cho học sinh quốc tế khi ở tại Canada.

• Các gói bảo hiểm sẽ chi trả cho những chi phí khẩn cấp không lường trước liên quan đến Coronavirus (COVID-19), tương tự như đối với các bệnh khác nếu hợp đồng bảo hiểm được ký kết tại Canada sau ngày chính sách có hiệu lực.
• Bất kỳ tình trạng bệnh lý nào đã tồn tại từ trước, bao gồm cả bệnh do COVID-19, sẽ không được bảo hiểm chi trả nếu tình hình bệnh không ổn định trong khoảng thời gian yêu cầu (90 ngày) trước ngày chính sách có hiệu lực.
