What are our future plans?

With the pandemic still a reality both here and across the world, we have to remain flexible and open to changes. All the Fall 2020 programs started online, with the hope that sometime in 2021 we can transition the students into our physical classrooms. Although UWinnipeg continues to work toward a return to in-class delivery, we cannot guarantee a return date until it is deemed safe to do so by public health authorities.

Students who started in Fall 2020 will be prioritized once the campus is open again. We are already working on plans to bring students onto campus in the new year in a phased approach once it is safe to do so.

We are already featuring the new students in the second edition of  “Year in the Life” series.  You can follow these students on their PACE journey on Instagram (@uwinnipegpace) or YouTube (youtube.com/paceuwinnipeg).

You can also stay-up-to-date with PACE news and read recent interviews with current students, alumni, and PACE staff on our blog: https://pace.uwinnipegcourses.ca/blog.

Winter & May 2021 Programs Filling Up Already!

Both the Winter and May 2021 programs are quickly filling up already. A reminder on how the student can secure their seat:

  1. Pay the 1st installment (which is ½ of the total tuition – tuition details here),

AND

  1. Email a copy of the letter from IRCC confirming the student is eligible for a Study Permit

NEW IT Programs Starting 2021!

We have two new IT programs starting in 2021 and applications are now open for both.

  1. Predictive Analytics (starts May 2021) – Admission Requirements:
    1. Education: Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or related degree. Advanced programming knowledge is strongly recommended.
    2. Work Experience: 2 years in applied computer science, applied statistics, engineering, or a business role involving the use/analysis of data
  2. Artificial Intelligence (starts September 2021) – Admission Requirements:
    1. Education: Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or related degree. Advanced programming knowledge is strongly recommended.
    2. Work Experience: 2 years in applied computer science, applied statistics, engineering, or a business role involving the use/analysis of data

IRCC Phase 1 – Approved-in-Principle Study Permits

1)      Fall 2020: Students who started their Fall 2020 studies with the IRCC Stage 1 – Approved-in-Principle (AIP) Study Permit must submit the Final Approval to [email protected] as soon as they receive this approval.

2)      Winter 2021: We are currently accepting AIP Study Permits, along with 1st payment, to secure seats in the Winter 2021 programs; however, we have the soft deadline of November 15, 2020 for when we need to receive the Final Approval. This is subject to IRCC issuing Final Approvals and we may reconsider the deadline.

For students who received Phase 1 (Approved-in-Principle), but are denied in their Final Approval, we have a slighted amended refund policy.

Fall 2020 Students Still in their Home Country

We adjusted the course delivery so that students in various time zones can join their classes; however, we are eager to see all the students come to Canada as soon as possible. As already mentioned we are working towards bringing students back on campus, once deemed safe to do so by the public health authorities and the appropriate safety protocols can be implemented. We will send a communication out soon to these students with next steps on their travels to Canada. If their Study Permit was approved before March 18, they might be eligible to travel to Canada already. We have several options for students who need to quarantine upon arrival and will send this information to students as well.

If a student has to withdraw from a program due to COVID-19 (e.g. they or an immediate family member has COVID-19 or all travel has been suspended due to COVID-19), we have a slighted amended refund policy.

The University of Winnipeg PACE is extending the Duolingo English Test for admission purposes, and will continue to accept the Duolingo test for the English requirement for MAY 2021 and FALL 2021 program applications (ONLY).

All programs (excluding Public Relations Strategic Communications):

  • Minimum Overall Score: 120
  • Minimum “Production” Score: 100

Public Relations Marketing Management Strategic Communications Diploma Program (ONLY):

  • Minimum Overall Score: 125
  • Minimum “Production” Score: 105
